Facing Fashion Fears In Technicolor

Neutrals are great, for sure, but my closest is pretty much all black and white. I realized that I was relying on them too much, they are a very cozy safety blanket for me. I really thought it was time to break out of my comfort zone, the first step being, facing my fashion fear of color.

I think my fear comes from getting the wrong kind of attention, in dark colors I’m safe, in bright colors I’m open to all sorts of attention. But what I wear isn’t about others reactions to me, it’s about me and my personal expression. It’s all about expressing myself and being happy. So here I am facing my fear of color.

I really like my new bright red wrap dress. I feel like I don’t need to pile on accessories, the dress is a statement enough. The small floral print breaks up the bright red. It feels casual but fancy at the same time. It’s a good introduction to bright colors.

I don’t think I’ll give up my uniform of black t-shirts and jeans but I’m excited with the injection of COLOR into my wardrobe. More importantly this was a good experience of opening myself up to different styles I would usually be afraid of trying. I plan on making facing my fashion fears a regular thing.
