Product Review – Sunscreen

Confession: I used to be really bad at wearing sunscreen. Before I moved to Los Angeles I would only wear it on beach days. I hated how most sunscreen felt and usually it made me break out. For far too long my only skincare was slathering coconut oil on my face every morning. A practice that had to stop once I arrived on the sunny west coast.

Luckily one day I had an epiphany, my skin wasn’t looking its greatest. It’s a hard thing to admit that to yourself. I realized the intense sun in Los Angeles was doing its work on my face. I had to get serious.

I found myself researching in depth all kinds of sunscreen, physical vs chemical, spray vs lotion, expensive vs cheap.

After trying A LOT, here are my favs:

Laura Mercier Primer with SPF – I wanted something to provide SPF protection and make my skin look great, so I ventured into the world of primers. It has a slight color coming out of the tube but it goes on clear. A few of my eagle eyes coworkers even noted my skin looking better after I started using this.

Glossier Invisible Shield Sunscreen – A more recent addition. So far it hasn’t caused me to break out as sunscreens can usually do. It doesn’t feel like a usual heavy sunscreen. It goes on like a serum, which feels great on my dry skin. The only thing I don’t like is the slight orange smell but it fades pretty quickly.

Honorable Mentions

Kiss My Face (body and face) are great for pool/beach days. Neutrogena Dry Touch is perfect for everyday use on my arms and chest.
